Tasting Note: Sports an intense and pure beam of raspberry and cassis flavors, flanked by sage, incense and black tea aromas and backed by mouthwatering licorice snap notes and a bramble-filled finish. A beautiful example of mountain fruit. Best from 2022 through 2040. 4,030 cases made.
The 2015 vintage was one of our earliest, bookended by cold, wet weather in the spring that impacted fruit-set and by a warm, dry ripening season in the fall. Crop size was smaller overall, but quality was excellent. We had very small berries and loose clusters that led to even ripening and intensely concentrated flavors. There was a great skin to juice ratio that favored high-quality tannin extraction and concentration. The wines from 2015 show a good balance between freshness and power.
