Grapes: Merlot 70%, Ciliegiolo 30%
Vinification: the de-stemmed grapes ferment in an open steel vat. After the spontaneous start of fermentation, we proceed with cap punching down and pumping over. The draining off is made after 5/7 days.
Ageing: during winter the wine ages in a steel vat until the summer, when it is bottled.
Location of vineyards: Ghiaretolo estate. It is the vineyard called Fontananera, sandy soil, east exposed.
Besides the vineyard, there’s a 2 hectare olive grove. The plantation dates back to 1997. Both grapes are grown for a long time in our land. In the last century, probably the Merlot established itself as the red grape more present in the Magra valley..
