Wine Advocate 91 points – The 2011 Leopardi Gran Reserva Brut Nature is a blend of 40% each Xarello and Macabeo and 10% each Parellada and Chardonnay matured in contact with the lees in bottle for at least 48 months. This flagship Leopardi was also the same vintage I tasted last time. The bottle I tasted had been disgorged in December 2017, extremely late. 2011 is surprising me with some wines showing much more freshness than I expected, and this is one of them. Other than that, the extended time in contact with the lees has provided more intense smoky and leesy aromas, reminiscent of bread dough, and there’s also something salty, almost marine. This is very pleasant for current drinking, and it’s evolving nicely in bottle. 30,000 bottles..April/2018
Jeb Dunnuck 92 points – The 2011 Leopardi Brut Nature Gran Reserva is another brilliant Cava. Apple blossom, spice, and a saline-like minerality all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, vibrant, elegant, beautiful sparkler. A blend of 40% Xarello, 40% Macabeo, 10% Parellada, and 10% Chardonnay, drink this classy effort over the coming 4-5 years..March/2018
