The Winery: Lemelson Vineyards was started by Eric Lemelson, who after graduating from Lewis and Clark in Portland, planted his first vines in 1995. Two years later, after realizing how much he loved Pinot Noir, he planted another 30 acres. His first vintage of 1999 was released in October, 2001.
While he started with one vineyard, Lemelson and his vineyards have grown to seven of the most prime vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Each vineyard has the name of the original faming families
From the beginning, Lemelson sought to use organic and responsible methods to produce wine. As such each vineyard is certified organic and each has in–house vineyard management to ensure that standards of treatment for all life, from the grapes to the people working are kept high.
“(30% new French oak) Deep vivid red. Aromas of black raspberry, cherry pit and pungent flowers pick up hints of licorice and succulent herbs with aeration. Juicy and broad in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors that pick up a spicy nuance and become more energetic on the back half. The floral note repeats on a long, gently tannic finish that shows no rough edges” 90 pts Vinous Media
