Matured in ex-bourbon American Oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, Uigeadail – pronounced Ooga-dal – is Gaelic for dark and mysterious place, named after the Ardberg’s water source, Loch Uigeadail. Christmas cake by a smoky coal fire. Leather, toffees and chocolate raisins. Tarry smoke, flowering currants, walnut bread and mocha espresso. Rich, oily and mouth-coating – winter spices explode. Honey-glazed smoked food and treacle. Smoke builds like a fine Montecristo cigar. Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones.
Ardbeg has been voted the best Whisky in the world; 3 years in a row. And in the world of Ardbeg, peat is important. For it is this soggy, unassuming matter which gives Ardbeg its famous flavour. Ardbeg is the PEATIEST and SMOKIEST of all the Islay malts, yet has a fruity floral sweetness and complexity to the spirit.
