Estate-bottled BOTTEGA VINAIA is the outcome of a vision shared by Giacinto Giacomini and Anselmo Martini, managing director and lead winemaker, respectively, at the widely recognized Cavit winery. Starting in the early 1990s, Giacomini and Martini sought to explore the optimum potential of a handful of extraordinary vineyards in northern Italy's Trentino region that, year after year, consistently produce the highest quality grapes. This select group of family-farmed vineyards is the source of Bottega Vinaia, an exceptional line of artisan wines that reflects the authentic qualities of the Trentino terroir. Thanks to Giacomini's and Martini's passion and tireless drive, Bottega Vinaia has swiftly joined the ranks of Italy's top-notch premium wine producers.
From the Winemakers:
"Our red wines are showing attractive and rather deep colour with red fruits on the nose. They have marked though closed annins, which bring roundness and length.
Our white wines are unveiling fresh and expressive flavours with a dominance of fruits rather than flowers. On the palate, they are offering delightful aromatic precision, great purity and more suppleness than we initially expected.
The 2004 vintage, in white as in red, gave birth to balanced wines, full of freshness, fruit and finesse. Certainly most of them will be pleasant in their youth, however the Premiers and Grands Crus will deliver some very pleasant surprises after a few years bottle ageing."
"With aromas of ripe gooseberry and fresh herb combined with underlying mineral characters, this wine has concentration and purity of aroma and flavour. Vineyard blocks from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, displaying superior flavour and concentration, were nurtured over the 2007 growing season to result in a wine which exudes style and is truly representative of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc." -The Winery

"Unlike its close siblings, this wine is not specific as to its clonal origins, but the kinship among all three is crystal clear in their shared emphases on sweet, seductive and keenly defined fruit. Fully ripened and attractively juicy in character and never so much as hinting at heat, it has plenty of mass in the mouth and shows off the varietal's fine velvety feel, and its careful adjuncts of oak and milk chocolate serve as lovely enrichments to its unstinting themes of sweet cherries."
