It offers up a sexy concoction of toasty new oak, lavender, spice box, cassis, and black raspberry. Round, rich, and voluptuous on the palate, it delivers plenty of up-front pleasure but hides enough ripe tannin to evolve for a few years. It can be enjoyed now and over the next decade. The Alto Moncayo wines, from the up-and-coming DO of Campo de Borja, are produced from old-vine Garnacha with winemaking overseen by veteran vigneron Chris Ringland." -Jay Miller

"Vivid ruby. Energetic black raspberry and floral aromas are deepened by rooty sassafras and cola. Very spicy on the palate, which offers fresh black and blue fruit flavors, silky texture and gentle mineral lift. Seems more complex than the '05, surprisingly, and finishes with good lingering sweetness. I suspect that this will be best drunk before the '05. This winery is a partnership between Jumilla's Juan Gil family and importer Jorge Ordonez, and the wines are made by two young Australian winemakers, Iwo Jakimowica and Sarah Morris, who worked at Torbreck." -Josh Raynolds

It gives up a compelling nose of black cherry fruit that jumps from the glass along with earth and mineral notes. Plush on the palate bordering on voluptuous, this pleasure-bent, full-flavored effort will drink well for another 3-4 years although few will be able to resist its charms for that long.
